It is a secret, Joli Kobe.
"JAPAN AND FRANCE. The combination of these two cultural heavyweights is, in the world of cuisine, one of the most progressive and forthcoming...The resulting influence is subtle but powerful, like a slow morphine drip. An unyielding adherence to fresh ingredients coupled with delicate portions arranged like a sonnet on the plate — the effect has us at hello... It is a secret, Joli Kobe... And most of Atlanta doesn't know what it's missing. Dishes from chef Banjoed Mulsing are delightful and a refreshing departure from the oversized, heavy portions found at so many of the city's popular restaurants...Joli Kobe has made a name for itself as one of the area's best bakeries, so it's not the kind of place where you should skip dessert and go elsewhere for ice cream — have the gelato. House-made, flavors such as caramel and chocolate almond come creamily draped with fresh fruit in a chilled martini glass. Most of the time it's easy to get something from the bakery plated up (have the mango tart if it's available; if not, get a napoleon)... Americans, and perhaps Atlantans in particular, are a little myopic when it comes to a rarity like Joli Kobe. We want our restaurants to be more salient. And yet it is here, surviving year after year in all its glorious subtlety. ."

In knead of a standout bakery?
"Azure Bistro may have closed, but the renovated cafe and bakery are running on all cylinders..."

Joli Kobe: 4 the best cakes in Atlanta - 2 words - Joli Kobe!
"Joli Kobe has an eclectic fusion of French and Japanese pastries that are sure to please even the most discriminating of tastes...Any pastry dish, and you CANNOT go wrong. Their bread's sell out quickly, and usually the breads are gone by 8:00 AM. Try the yakisoba roll (basically a hard roll with fried seasoned noodles)...trust me it may sound weird, but it's very good"

Slice of heaven
"There's more to Joli Kobe than just the bakery...Every time I enter this space, I'm surprised a fountain isn't trickling in the background. It's the only tranquil touch missing. Rich, earthy floor tiles resemble tree branches in autumn. Sunlight percolates through the clean lines of glass walls. A celery-colored bar melds with a backdrop of bricks painted sea foam green...The final analysis? The year's wait was worth it. Sit yourself down in the peaceful bistro, order a simple meal and save lots of room for dessert. You'll think you've died and gone to the Sweet By and By."

Atlanta's Tastiest Exit
"Where French Pastries Meet Japanese Details. Turn south off the interstate, and go two blocks to an unassuming shopping center named The Prado. There you'll find Joli Kobe, a delightful bakery and cafe run by a Japanese family for more than 20 years.. It's difficult to not eat dessert first here. Fruit tarts (from 95 cents to $26) line up in a glass case. All kinds of cookies and pastries tempt you for less than a dollar. But the pièce de résistance is the selection of fresh-baked breads, from baguettes and whole wheat loaves to pain de campagne and red bean croissants. Try to put off your sweet tooth, however, and order a sandwich or salad. Choose from fresh almond-curry chicken salad, egg salad, and cold pasta selections atop green garden salads priced from $4.95 to $7.50. You won't be disappointed. "

Jolly Joli-Kobe
"For Atlanta's northside lunch crowd, Joli-Kobe Bakery & Cafe offers a welcome respite from the usual chains and generic office-park luncheonettes. Nearly hidden among the horrors of Roswell Road just inside I-285, this petite bôite serves exactingly made sandwiches, salads and baked goods to satisfy even the pickiest eaters..."

Continental cuisine with a Japanese flair
"For years, Joli Kobe has successfully melded elements of classic Continental cuisine with Japanese tastes and sensibilities. Their to-die-for baked goods have a tremendous following among the in-the-know of Atlanta's northside, as well as anyone else who tries the breads and pastries. The breads are the cornerstones of the lunch menu: rich croissants and toothsome baguettes, along with hearty sandwich breads. And now the Bistro features a selection of sumptious salads and pastas."

Great Food, Great Value / The Best
"The best bakery/cafe is not in midtown or Virginia Highlands; it's in a generic strip mall off Roswell Rd just inside the perimeter. Whenever I am in that part of town I make a point to have lunch at Joli Kobe. They artfully blend european bakery/cafe fare with sophisticated Japanese sensibilities to taste and presentation. Their sandwiches are delicious and are a great value! Most are under $5 and a soup du jour is only $1.50, but the taste and presentation is 5 star! breads are consistently good. They do a great job with the french country breads and baguettes."

This patisserie has the most exquisitely prepared desserts and pastries I have seen anywhere in Atlanta. Looking under the glass at Joli Kobe is like looking as precious jewels under a jewelers case; these works of art are almost too beautiful to eat. This patisserie is as good as any I've found in Paris or Japan. Every special occassion or dinner party would not be complete without a delectable dessert from Joli Kobe!
